B. V. Doshi, born on August twenty-six, nineteen twenty-seven, is a distinguished Indian architect, urban planner, and educator. He has played a pivotal role in shaping the architectural landscape of India, contributing significantly to the evolution of architectural discourse in the country. His early career included working under renowned architects Le Corbusier and Louis Kahn, which laid the foundation for his pioneering efforts in modernist and brutalist architecture.

Among his most notable designs are prestigious institutions such as FLAME University, IIM Bangalore, IIM Udaipur, and NIFT Delhi. He is also celebrated for the innovative Amdavad ni Gufa and the CEPT University. One of his remarkable achievements includes the Aranya Low Cost Housing development in Indore, which earned him the esteemed Aga Khan Award for Architecture.

In addition to these accomplishments, Doshi designed the Nalanda International University, inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, further solidifying his legacy in contemporary architecture. His contributions have been recognized with numerous accolades, including the Pritzker Architecture Prize in two thousand eighteen, making him the first Indian architect to receive this honor. He has also been awarded the Padma Shri, Padma Bhushan, Padma Vibhushan, and the Royal Gold Medal from the Royal Institute of British Architects in two thousand twenty-two.
