Badi' al-Zaman Mirza

Badi' al-Zaman Mirza, born in the year fourteen fifty-six, was a prominent ruler in the Timurid dynasty, known for his brief reign over Herat from fifteen oh six to fifteen oh seven. As the son of Husayn Bayqarah, he was a direct descendant of the legendary conqueror Timur, linking him to a rich heritage of leadership and governance.

His rule, though short-lived, marked the end of the Timurid presence in Herat. Following his reign, the political landscape shifted dramatically as his cousin Babur emerged as the only surviving Timurid ruler, establishing a new chapter in history by founding the Mughal Dynasty in India.

Badi' al-Zaman's legacy is intertwined with the decline of the Timurid empire, reflecting the turbulent times of the early sixteenth century. His life and rule serve as a poignant reminder of the dynastic struggles that shaped the region during this era.
