Badri Patarkatsishvili, born on October 31, 1955, was a prominent Georgian businessman and politician. He emerged as a significant figure in the business landscape of Russia from the early 1980s, establishing himself as one of the wealthiest individuals in Georgia, with an estimated fortune of twelve billion dollars. His entrepreneurial spirit led to the creation of several successful companies, making him a flamboyant and influential character in the region.
In addition to his business ventures, Patarkatsishvili ventured into politics, contesting the 2008 Georgian presidential election where he secured third place with seven point one percent of the votes. His political aspirations reflected his deep commitment to his country and its future, showcasing his multifaceted personality as both a businessman and a public figure.
Tragically, Patarkatsishvili's life was cut short when he died unexpectedly in February 2008, leaving behind a complex legacy and sparking one of the largest estate battles in legal history. His passing raised numerous questions and controversies, particularly when, in October 2018, the Georgian government accused former president Mikheil Saakashvili of orchestrating his assassination.
Beyond his business and political endeavors, Patarkatsishvili was also recognized as one of Georgia's largest philanthropists, contributing significantly to various causes and leaving a lasting impact on his community.
