Bagrat III of Georgia

Bagrat III of Georgia, also known as Bagrat the Unifier, was a pivotal figure in the history of the region, born around the year nine hundred sixty. He belonged to the illustrious Bagrationi dynasty and played a crucial role in shaping the political landscape of his time.

His reign began in the Kingdom of Abkhazia in nine hundred seventy-eight, where he was known as Bagrat II. His leadership was marked by a series of strategic military conquests and diplomatic maneuvers that laid the groundwork for a unified Georgian state.

In the year one thousand eight, Bagrat III ascended to the throne of the Kingdom of Georgia, a position he held until his death on the seventh of May in one thousand fourteen. His efforts in uniting various realms were instrumental in the establishment of the Kingdom of Georgia, a significant achievement that would influence the region for centuries.

Before his coronation as king, Bagrat III co-ruled the Saeristavo of Kartli alongside his father, Gurgen of Iberia, from nine hundred seventy-six to nine hundred seventy-eight. This early experience in governance undoubtedly shaped his future as a ruler.
