Personal Facts, Age, Height and Biography of Baldur von Schirach

Baldur von Schirach, born on May ninth, nineteen oh seven, was a prominent German politician and a key figure in the Nazi regime. He rose to prominence as the leader of the Hitler Youth from nineteen thirty-one to nineteen forty, a role that positioned him at the forefront of youth indoctrination in Nazi Germany. His political career began early, joining the Nazi Party at the age of eighteen and quickly ascending to national youth leader in nineteen thirty-one. By nineteen thirty-two, he was elected as a deputy to the Reichstag, further solidifying his influence within the party.

In nineteen thirty-three, following Adolf Hitler's appointment as Chancellor, Schirach was entrusted with the responsibility of overseeing all youth organizations in the nation as Jugendführer of the German Reich. His tenure was marked by a fervent commitment to Nazi ideology, which included a virulent antisemitism that led to the deportation of sixty-five thousand Viennese Jews to concentration camps in German-occupied Poland.

During World War II, Schirach served as an infantryman in the French Campaign, earning the Iron Cross, second class, for his service. In nineteen forty, he was appointed Gauleiter of the Reichsgau Vienna, a position he held until the end of the war. As the Red Army advanced in April nineteen forty-five, Schirach fled Vienna for Tyrol, where he ultimately surrendered to American forces.

Following the war, Schirach was tried at the Nuremberg trials, where he was convicted of crimes against humanity and sentenced to twenty years in prison. After serving his time at Spandau, he retired to southern Germany, where he lived until his death in nineteen seventy-four at the age of sixty-seven.
