Ban Ki-moon

Ban Ki-moon, born on June thirteenth, nineteen forty-four, is a distinguished South Korean politician and diplomat who made history as the eighth secretary-general of the United Nations from two thousand seven to two thousand sixteen. His journey to this prestigious role began when he served as South Korea's minister of foreign affairs and trade from two thousand four to two thousand six, where he gained invaluable experience by visiting all the countries on the United Nations Security Council. This strategic maneuver positioned him as a leading candidate for the secretary-general role, which he officially assumed on January first, two thousand seven, succeeding Kofi Annan.

During his tenure at the United Nations, Ban Ki-moon was instrumental in implementing significant reforms in peacekeeping and employment practices.
