Barbara Cassin

Barbara Cassin, born on October twenty-fourth, nineteen forty-seven, is a distinguished French philologist and philosopher whose contributions to the field are widely recognized. Elected to the prestigious Académie Française on May fourth, two thousand eighteen, she has made significant strides in the realms of philosophy and lexicography.

As an emeritus research director at the National Center for Scientific Research (CNRS) in Paris, Cassin has dedicated her career to advancing knowledge and understanding in her areas of expertise. She also serves as a program director at the International College of Philosophy, where she leads its Scientific Council and is an active member of its board of directors.

Cassin's influence extends to her role as the director of the Collège international de philosophie, an institution established by the renowned philosopher Jacques Derrida. In two thousand six, she took over the directorship of the Centre Leon-Robin at the Sorbonne, a leading center of excellence in Ancient philosophy, succeeding Jonathan Barnes.
