Bardish Chagger

Bardish Chagger, born on April sixth, nineteen eighty, is a prominent Canadian politician who has represented the Waterloo constituency as a Member of Parliament since two thousand fifteen. A dedicated member of the Liberal Party, Chagger has held several significant positions, including Minister of Small Business and Tourism from two thousand fifteen to two thousand eighteen, and Government House Leader from two thousand sixteen to two thousand nineteen. Notably, she made history as the first woman to serve in the role of Government House Leader.

Throughout her political career, Chagger has been recognized for her commitment to diversity and inclusion, serving as the Minister of Diversity, Inclusion and Youth from two thousand nineteen to two thousand twenty-one. However, her tenure was not without controversy, as she became known for her involvement in the WE Charity scandal, which ultimately led to her removal from the cabinet.

In the lead-up to the two thousand twenty-five Liberal Party of Canada Leadership race, Chagger chose not to endorse any candidate, despite nearly fifty of her colleagues in the Ontario caucus expressing their preferences. Following Mark Carney's victory in the leadership contest and his subsequent appointment as Canada's Prime Minister, Chagger was not reinstated to a ministerial position, marking a four-year absence from cabinet roles.
