Barthélemy d'Eyck

Barthélemy d'Eyck, an Early Netherlandish artist born around 1420, made significant contributions to the world of painting and manuscript illumination during the 15th century. His artistic journey spanned from approximately 1440 to 1469, during which he worked primarily in France and likely in Burgundy.

Although no artworks can be definitively attributed to him, d'Eyck garnered acclaim from his contemporaries as a leading figure in the art community. His influence is particularly noted in the realm of illuminated manuscripts, where he is often associated with the Master of René of Anjou.

Art historians have also linked him to the Master of the Aix Annunciation, recognizing his style in various paintings. Furthermore, many believe he played a role as the Master of the Shadows, contributing to the exquisite calendar of the Très Riches Heures du Duc de Berry, a masterpiece of the period.
