Barbara Stanisława "Basia" Trzetrzelewska, born on September 30, 1954, is a celebrated Polish singer-songwriter and recording artist, renowned for her unique blend of Latin-inspired jazz-pop music. Her musical journey began in the late 1960s, performing with various Polish bands throughout the 1970s, before she made the pivotal move to the United Kingdom in 1981.

Basia gained prominence as a member of the British trio Matt Bianco, where her vocal talents shone brightly. In 1986, she and her bandmate Danny White decided to part ways with the group to pursue her solo career. This decision marked the beginning of a remarkable chapter in her life.

Signing with Epic Records, Basia enjoyed a flourishing international career from 1987 to 1995, particularly in the United States. Her first two albums, Time and Tide and London Warsaw New York, each sold over a million copies, solidifying her status as a leading artist. Among her most popular tracks are "Time and Tide," "New Day for You," "Promises," "Baby You're Mine," "Cruising for Bruising," and "Drunk on Love." She also garnered a dedicated following in Asia.

After facing personal tragedies that led to a lengthy hiatus, Basia made a triumphant return to the music scene with the release of the Matt Bianco reunion album, Matt's Mood, in 2004. Since then, she has continued to share her music through independent labels, captivating audiences with her timeless sound.
