Basil of Trebizond

Basil of Trebizond, born in the year 1315, ascended to the throne as Emperor of Trebizond in August 1332. His reign, which lasted until his untimely death on April sixth, 1340, marked a significant period of stability amidst the civil strife that plagued the region during the second quarter of the fourteenth century.
