Basshunter

Jonas Erik Altberg, widely recognized by his stage name Basshunter, is a prominent Swedish singer, record producer, songwriter, and DJ, born on December 22, 1984. Known for his bass-heavy Eurodance music, Basshunter has made a significant impact on the electronic music scene. He began his musical journey in Halmstad, where he was raised, and later moved to Malmö in 2006.

At a young age, Basshunter's passion for music was ignited as he sang in a choir led by his mother. By the age of seventeen, he ventured into music production and began performing at local venues, laying the groundwork for his future success. In 2006, he self-released the track 'Boten Anna,' which quickly gained popularity and led to his signing with Extensive Music and Warner Music Sweden.

His breakthrough came with the 2007 hit 'Now You're Gone,' featuring Bazzheadz, which cleverly reimagined the melody of 'Boten Anna' with new lyrics. Over the years, Basshunter has released five studio albums, including 'The Bassmachine' (2004), 'LOL' (2006), 'Now You're Gone – The Album' (2008), 'Bass Generation' (2009), and 'Calling Time' (2013). In addition to his own work, he has penned songs for various artists, showcasing his versatility as a songwriter.

Basshunter's career has also seen him participate in reality television, including the seventh series of Celebrity Big Brother and episodes of Swedish game shows. His accolades include a European Border Breakers Award and a Musikförläggarnas pris, among others. With over three million records sold, he remains a significant figure in the music industry, and as of May 2024, he ranks as the sixtieth most-streamed Swedish artist on Spotify, boasting over eight hundred million streams.
