Beatrice of Savoy

Beatrice of Savoy, born in 1198, was a prominent aristocrat who played a significant role in the political landscape of her time. As the daughter of Thomas I of Savoy and Margaret of Geneva, she was the tenth of fourteen children, which positioned her within a powerful lineage.

Her marriage to Ramon Berenguer V, Count of Provence, elevated her status as Countess consort of Provence. This union not only strengthened familial ties but also enhanced her influence in the region.

In 1264, Beatrice demonstrated her leadership capabilities by serving as regent of Savoy during her brother's absence. This role underscored her political acumen and commitment to her homeland, showcasing her ability to govern effectively in challenging times.
