Beatrix Loughran

Beatrix Loughran, born on June thirtieth, nineteen hundred in Mount Vernon, New York, was a pioneering American figure skater and coach. She made her mark in the world of figure skating by competing in both singles and pairs, showcasing her exceptional talent and versatility.

Her illustrious career is highlighted by her remarkable achievement as the only American to win three Olympic medals in figure skating, securing gold in nineteen twenty-four, silver in nineteen twenty-eight, and bronze in nineteen thirty-two. Loughran is also celebrated as one of the oldest Olympic medalists in figure skating history.

In addition to her Olympic success, Loughran was a six-time national champion, dominating the singles events from nineteen twenty-five to nineteen twenty-seven and excelling in pairs from nineteen thirty to nineteen thirty-two alongside her partner, Sherwin Badger. She was the first North American skater to earn a medal at the World Championships, finishing third in nineteen twenty-four.

Beyond her competitive achievements, Loughran's legacy continued through her family, as she was the aunt of three-time national medalist Audrey Peppe. In recognition of her contributions to the sport, she was inducted into the United States Figure Skating Hall of Fame in nineteen ninety-seven.
