Belle Gunness

Belle Gunness, born Brynhild Paulsdatter Størseth on November 11, 1859, was a notorious Norwegian-American figure whose life was marked by a series of heinous crimes. Active primarily in Illinois and Indiana from 1884 until her presumed death in 1908, she earned the chilling nickname 'Hell's Belle' due to her gruesome reputation as a serial killer.

Gunness is believed to have murdered at least fourteen individuals, predominantly men whom she lured to her rural Indiana home through personal advertisements. Some estimates suggest her involvement in as many as forty murders, positioning her as one of the most prolific female serial killers in history.

Her life took a mysterious turn when she seemingly perished in a fire in 1908, yet the true circumstances surrounding her fate remain unconfirmed. The enigma of her disappearance continues to captivate and horrify, leaving behind a legacy of fear and intrigue.
