Ben Amos, born on April 10, 1990, is an accomplished English professional footballer who currently plays as a goalkeeper for EFL League One club Port Vale. His journey in football began at a young age when he was released from the Academy at Crewe Alexandra as a midfielder. However, he quickly transitioned to the goalkeeper position and earned a spot at the prestigious Manchester United Academy just a year later.
Amos made his competitive first-team debut in September 2008, showcasing his talent over seven seasons with Manchester United. During this time, he made seven appearances, including matches in the Premier League and UEFA Champions League. To gain further experience, he embarked on several loan spells at clubs such as Peterborough United, Molde in Norway, Oldham Athletic, Hull City, Carlisle United, and Bolton Wanderers.
In July 2015, Amos joined Bolton Wanderers permanently after being released by Manchester United. He had a notable season in 2015–16, featuring forty-three times for the club. His career continued to flourish with loan spells at Cardiff City, Charlton Athletic, and Millwall. After an impressive fifty-game stint on loan at Charlton during the 2017–18 season, he signed with the club in July 2019.
Amos faced challenges during the 2019–20 season, remaining on the bench as Charlton faced relegation from the Championship. However, he rebounded the following season, playing every League One game. In June 2021, he signed with Wigan Athletic, contributing significantly to their League One title win in the 2021–22 campaign. Following a difficult season that saw Wigan relegated, Amos joined Port Vale in July 2024, where he played a key role in the club's promotion out of League Two at the end of the 2024–25 season.
