Ben Cottreau

Ben Cottreau, born on April 4, 1985, is a former professional ice hockey player from Canada. He began his journey in the sport at Mercyhurst University, where he honed his skills and prepared for a career in professional hockey.

In March 2008, Cottreau made the leap to the professional ranks by signing with the Albany River Rats of the American Hockey League. His career took him across the Atlantic, where he spent the 2008-09 season with the Landshut Cannibals in the DEL2, showcasing his talent on an international stage.

On June 8, 2009, he joined the Hannover Scorpions in the Deutsche Eishockey Liga (DEL). His commitment to the team was evident when he signed a two-year contract extension on February 16, 2010. However, despite his dedication, Cottreau faced challenges due to head injuries sustained during his career.

Ultimately, he made the difficult decision to retire from professional hockey on May 12, 2011. Cottreau's journey through the sport reflects both his passion for ice hockey and the physical toll it can take on athletes.
