Ben Keith

Bennett Keith Schaeufele, known to the world as Ben Keith, was born on March 6, 1937, and left an indelible mark on the music industry until his passing on July 26, 2010. Renowned as a record producer, guitarist, and songwriter, Keith's legacy is particularly celebrated for his exceptional work as a pedal steel guitarist alongside the iconic Neil Young.

Throughout the 1950s and 1960s, Keith became a prominent figure in the Nashville country music scene, collaborating with a myriad of successful artists across rock, country, and pop genres. His versatility as a multi-instrumentalist sideman allowed him to contribute to the sound of numerous hit records over a career that spanned more than four decades.

Neil Young affectionately nicknamed him "Long Grain," a playful nod to both his height and a variety of Uncle Ben's Rice. This endearing moniker reflects the camaraderie and respect shared between the two musicians.

In recognition of his significant contributions to music, Ben Keith was inducted into the Musicians Hall of Fame and Museum in 2014, solidifying his status as a beloved figure in the industry.
