In 2013, McLemore was selected as the seventh overall pick in the NBA draft by the Sacramento Kings, marking the beginning of a nine-year career in the National Basketball Association. Over the years, he played for five different teams, starting with a notable four-season stint with the Kings.

After his time in Sacramento, McLemore signed with the Memphis Grizzlies in 2017, only to be traded back to the Kings the following year. His journey continued as he joined the Houston Rockets in 2019, the Los Angeles Lakers in 2021, and concluded his NBA career with the Portland Trail Blazers during the 2021-22 season.

In the years following his NBA career, McLemore took his talents overseas, playing in countries such as China, Greece, Spain, and Turkey from 2023 to 2025.
