Benny Gantz

Benny Gantz, born on June ninth, nineteen fifty-nine, is a prominent Israeli politician and retired army general. His political career began in December two thousand eighteen when he founded the Israel Resilience party, which later joined forces with Telem and Yesh Atid to create the Blue and White alliance, symbolizing the colors of the Israeli national flag.

Gantz served as the 20th Chief of General Staff of the Israel Defense Forces from two thousand eleven to two thousand fifteen. His political ascent continued as he held various significant positions, including the minister of defense from two thousand twenty to two thousand twenty-two and deputy prime minister during the same period. Notably, he was also the alternate prime minister from two thousand twenty to two thousand twenty-one.

In March two thousand twenty, Gantz was appointed the 17th speaker of the Knesset, a role he held until May of the same year. His political journey took a pivotal turn when he agreed to join a rotation government with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, which led to his appointment as alternate prime minister and minister of defense. However, the coalition faced challenges, culminating in another election in two thousand twenty-one.

As defense minister, Gantz oversaw Operation Guardian of the Walls in Gaza and was reappointed to the same role in June two thousand twenty-one under the Bennett-Lapid government, serving until December two thousand twenty-two. Following the outbreak of the Gaza war in October two thousand twenty-three, he was appointed as a minister without portfolio in the thirty-seventh government, led by Netanyahu. Gantz's political journey continues to evolve as he remains a key figure in Israeli politics.
