Bernard Jean, born on September twenty-first, nineteen forty-eight, is a distinguished Canadian oboist, conductor, and music educator. His musical journey has seen him hold principal oboist positions with several prominent Canadian orchestras, including the Quebec Symphony Orchestra and the Montreal Symphony Orchestra.
In nineteen seventy-two, he co-founded the Quebec Woodwind Quintet, a collaboration that flourished for the next fifteen years, during which he played and recorded extensively. His passion for music led him to establish the St Louis de France Ensemble in nineteen eighty-seven, a group he has conducted while recording works by notable composers such as Caplet, Constant, Milhaud, and Patch.
Bernard has also showcased his talent as a soloist with the National Arts Centre Orchestra and other esteemed ensembles. His academic background includes graduating from the Conservatoire de Paris and the Conservatoire de musique du Québec à Québec, which laid the foundation for his teaching career.
