Bernhard Cullmann, affectionately known as 'Bernd', was born on November 1, 1949, in Germany. He carved out a notable career in football, initially starting with SpVgg Porz in 1969. His talent quickly caught the attention of larger clubs, leading to his signing with 1. FC Köln in 1970.
During his time at 1. FC Köln, Cullmann made a significant impact, playing in three hundred forty-one Bundesliga matches until his retirement in 1984 due to health issues. His versatility on the field allowed him to excel as both a midfielder and a defender, showcasing his adaptability and skill.
On the international stage, Cullmann represented the Germany national team from 1973 to 1980, earning forty caps and scoring six goals. He was part of the squad that participated in the 1974 and 1978 FIFA World Cups, as well as the triumphant UEFA Euro 1980.
