Bernie Worrell

George Bernard Worrell, Jr., born on April 19, 1944, was a groundbreaking American keyboardist and record producer whose influence resonated throughout the music industry. As a founding member of the iconic Parliament-Funkadelic collective, Worrell played a pivotal role in shaping the sound of funk and hip-hop, earning recognition as a sideman whose contributions rivaled those of many bandleaders.

In the 1980s, Worrell expanded his musical horizons by touring with the renowned band Talking Heads, further showcasing his versatility and talent. His collaborations spanned a diverse array of artists, including Keith Richards, Yoko Ono, Bill Laswell, Mos Def, Sly and Robbie, Fela Kuti, and Jack Bruce of Cream fame, solidifying his status as a sought-after musician.

Worrell's remarkable career was acknowledged with his induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in nineteen ninety-seven as a member of Parliament-Funkadelic, alongside fifteen other band members. He later joined Talking Heads in their induction ceremony in two thousand two, marking a significant milestone in his illustrious journey.
