Bertalan Farkas

Bertalan Farkas, born on August second, nineteen forty-nine, is a distinguished figure in the realms of space exploration and aviation. As the first Hungarian cosmonaut, he made history by representing Hungary as the seventh nation in space. His remarkable journey as a space explorer is complemented by his background as a fighter pilot, military personnel, and politician.

In addition to his achievements in space, Farkas holds the unique distinction of being the first Esperantist cosmonaut. His contributions to the field of aviation continue as he currently serves as the president of Airlines Service and Trade, where he influences the future of air travel.

Following Farkas's groundbreaking mission, Károly Simonyi, a Hungarian-American, became the second Hungarian astronaut. Notably, Simonyi is recognized as the only individual worldwide to have traveled to space twice as a space tourist, funding his own journeys.
