Bertrand du Guesclin

Bertrand du Guesclin, born around 1320, emerged as a formidable figure in the annals of military history. Known as 'The Eagle of Brittany' and 'The Black Dog of Brocéliande', he was a Breton knight who played a pivotal role in the Hundred Years' War, aligning himself with the French cause.

His military acumen was particularly evident during his tenure as Constable of France from 1370 until his death on July 13, 1380. Serving under King Charles V, du Guesclin was renowned for his strategic prowess, often employing a Fabian approach that emphasized avoiding large-scale confrontations whenever possible.

Throughout his career, he participated in seven significant battles, emerging victorious in five of them while commanding his troops. His legacy as a military leader is marked not only by his victories but also by his ability to adapt and strategize in the face of adversity.
