Bertrand Piccard

Bertrand Piccard, born on March first, nineteen fifty-eight, is a distinguished Swiss explorer, psychiatrist, and environmentalist. He is renowned for his adventurous spirit and groundbreaking achievements in aviation and sustainability.

In collaboration with Brian Jones, Piccard made history as the first individual to complete a non-stop balloon flight around the globe aboard the Breitling Orbiter 3. This remarkable feat showcased not only his piloting skills but also his commitment to pushing the boundaries of exploration.

As the initiator, chairman, and pilot of the Solar Impulse project alongside André Borschberg, Piccard led the first successful round-the-world flight powered entirely by solar energy. This innovative endeavor highlighted the potential of renewable energy and inspired a global movement towards sustainable practices.

In recognition of his contributions to environmental awareness, Piccard was honored with the Champions of the Earth award by the United Nations Environment Programme in two thousand twelve. He continues to champion sustainable solutions as the founder and chairman of the Solar Impulse Foundation.
