Big Rude Jake

Andrew Jacob Hiebert, known to the world as Big Rude Jake, was born on March 1, 1963, in Canada. A talented songwriter, singer, musician, and bandleader, he made his mark in the vibrant music scene of Toronto. Renowned as the original 'Swing Punk', Jake was a pivotal figure in the neo-swing movement that gained momentum in the 1990s.

His musical style was a rich tapestry woven from the roots of American music, blending elements of jazz, blues, gospel, jump, and rockabilly. Jake's distinctive finger-picking ragtime guitar technique drew inspiration from legendary artists such as Mose Scarlet and Leon Redbone, showcasing his deep appreciation for the genre's history.

After a hiatus from recording and touring, during which he embraced Zen Buddhism, Jake made a triumphant return to the music scene in 2009 with his album 'Quicksand'.
