Bill Bright

William R. Bright, born on October 19, 1921, was a prominent American evangelist and theologian whose influence extended far beyond the university campuses where he began his ministry. In 1951, he established Campus Crusade for Christ at the University of California, Los Angeles, aiming to reach university students with a message of faith and hope.

Bright's impact was further solidified in 1952 with the publication of his seminal work, The Four Spiritual Laws, which has since guided countless individuals in their spiritual journeys. His commitment to spreading the Christian message also led him to produce the film Jesus in 1979, a cinematic portrayal that resonated with audiences around the world.

In recognition of his contributions to religion, Bright was awarded the Templeton Prize for Progress in Religion in 1996, a prestigious honor that came with a monetary award of one million one hundred thousand dollars. True to his character, he donated the entire sum to initiatives promoting the spiritual benefits of fasting and prayer.

After decades of leadership, Bright stepped down as president of Campus Crusade for Christ in 2001, passing the torch to Steve Douglass. His legacy continued to inspire many until his passing on July 19, 2003, leaving behind a profound impact on the evangelical community.
