Bill Finger

Bill Finger, born on February eighth, nineteen fourteen, was a pioneering American comic book writer whose creative genius played a pivotal role in the birth of the iconic DC Comics character, Batman. Collaborating with Bob Kane, Finger's contributions extended far beyond mere storytelling; he was an innovative writer and visionary world-builder, crafting the rich mythos that surrounds the Dark Knight.

Despite his significant impact on the comic book industry, Finger often found himself relegated to the shadows, receiving little recognition for his work. Like many creators of his time, he was frequently labeled a 'ghostwriter,' with his name omitted from the credits of the comics he helped create, including those featuring Batman and the original Green Lantern.

In the latter part of the twentieth century, the truth about Finger's contributions began to surface. In a candid moment during an audio interview in the nineteen eighties, Kane acknowledged that Finger was responsible for fifty to seventy-five percent of Batman's creativity. However, Kane's public stance remained dismissive, leading to Finger's demise in obscurity and poverty while the Batman franchise flourished.

The resurgence of Finger's legacy began in the two-thousands, thanks in part to biographer Marc Tyler Nobleman's diligent research, which uncovered previously unknown heirs. With the support of the online comics community and Finger's granddaughter, efforts to restore his rightful place in comic book history gained momentum. In two thousand fifteen, DC Comics's parent company conditionally recognized Finger's intellectual property claim, ensuring that his name would be included in the 'created by' credit line alongside Kane's, a long-overdue acknowledgment of his monumental contributions.
