Bill Lienhard

Bill Lienhard, born on January 14, 1930, in Slaton, Texas, was a distinguished American basketball player whose athletic prowess shone brightly during the early 1950s. He attended the University of Kansas, where he played a pivotal role in leading the Jayhawks to victory as a member of the 1952 NCAA Champion basketball team.

His remarkable skills on the court earned him a spot on the American Olympic basketball team, which triumphed at the 1952 Summer Olympics in Helsinki, securing the coveted gold medal. Lienhard participated in five matches during the Games, showcasing his talent on an international stage.

After his Olympic success, Lienhard served in the Air Force, where he continued to pursue his passion for basketball. Following his military service, he transitioned into a career in banking in Kansas, stepping away from the sport he loved.
