In nineteen twenty-two, Sjöberg made his literary debut with the publication of Fridas bok (Frida's book), a collection of songs that resonated with both critics and the public alike. However, after achieving this initial success, he chose to retreat from the limelight, dedicating himself fully to his writing.

Among his most notable works is the novel Kvartetten som sprängdes (The quartet that split up), which offers a somewhat Dickensian narrative centered around stock-exchange gambling in the roaring twenties and the frantic efforts to recover from its consequences. This novel reflects his keen observations of society and the human condition.
