Björn Höcke

Björn Höcke, born on April first, nineteen seventy-two, is a prominent figure in German politics, known for his role as a teacher and a leading member of the far-right party Alternative for Germany (AfD). He has made significant strides in the political landscape, particularly as the chair of the AfD's state branch in Thuringia.

Under Höcke's leadership, the AfD achieved a historic milestone by securing its first-ever first place finish in a state election during the twenty twenty-four Thuringian state election. This victory marked a notable moment in German history, as it was the first time a far-right party had placed first in an election since the Nazi era.

Following the ban of Andreas Kalbitz from the AfD, Höcke emerged as the sole leader of the party's far-right faction known as Der Flügel. This faction has been classified by the German government's Federal Office for the Protection of the Constitution as a suspected right-wing extremist organization. Despite the formal dissolution of Der Flügel, Höcke remains a highly influential figure within the AfD, largely due to his extensive network and political acumen.
