Bledar Sejko, born on September tenth, nineteen seventy-two, is a celebrated Albanian guitarist, composer, and singer. He gained international recognition when he represented Albania in the Eurovision Song Contest two thousand thirteen in Malmö, performing the song "Identitet" alongside Adrian Lulgjuraj. The song is a unique blend of musical influences from Northern Albania and Chameria, showcasing Sejko's deep connection to his cultural roots.
Before his Eurovision success, Sejko was a pioneer in the Albanian music scene. In the late nineteen eighties, during a time when Communist Albania suppressed pop music, he formed one of the first clandestine pop groups with Redon Makashi and Elton Deda. Known affectionately by his nickname Qepa, meaning Onion, Sejko not only excelled as a performer but also as a mentor, teaching guitar to aspiring musicians like Makashi.
Sejko's musical journey includes the creation of Megahertz, Albania's first rock band, and his participation in the Festivali i Këngës, where he last competed in nineteen ninety-two with his group Thunder Way. Their entry, "Legjenda e Heroit" (The Hero's Legend), may not have won accolades, but it marked an important chapter in his evolving career.
In addition to his Eurovision appearances, Sejko showcased his talent in the two thousand eleven contest, performing alongside Aurela Gaçe in her song "Feel the Passion." His contributions to the Albanian music landscape have solidified his status as a prominent figure in the industry.
