Bob Inglis

Robert Durden Inglis Sr., born on October 11, 1959, is a notable American politician and lawyer who served as the U.S. representative for South Carolina's 4th congressional district. His tenure in Congress spanned two non-consecutive periods, first from 1993 to 1999 and then from 2005 to 2011. As a moderate member of the Republican Party, Inglis was known for his pragmatic approach to governance.

Inglis's political career faced a significant challenge in 2010 when he was unseated in the Republican primary runoff by Trey Gowdy, losing by a considerable margin. Despite this setback, Inglis continued to advocate for conservative principles and innovative solutions to pressing issues.

In 2012, he founded the Energy and Enterprise Initiative, a nationwide campaign aimed at engaging the public in discussions about energy and climate challenges. Based at George Mason University in Fairfax, Virginia, the initiative promotes conservative and free-enterprise solutions, emphasizing limited government and accountability.

Inglis argues for the acceptance of the scientific consensus on climate change and supports market-based solutions, including a revenue-neutral carbon tax offset by reductions in income and payroll taxes. He currently serves as the executive director of republicEN, a group dedicated to advancing free market approaches to climate change.
