Bobby Marcel Wilson, known professionally as Bobby V, is an American R&B singer born on February 27, 1980, in Jackson, Mississippi. Raised in Atlanta, Georgia, he began his musical journey in 1994 by forming the R&B group Mista. The group gained recognition with their hit single 'Blackberry Molasses' in 1996, which peaked at number fifty-three on the Billboard Hot 100. Despite the release of their self-titled debut album that same year, Mista struggled commercially and disbanded shortly after.
After taking time to further his education, Bobby V signed with Ludacris' record label, Disturbing tha Peace, in two thousand five. His debut single, 'Slow Down,' quickly climbed the charts, reaching number eight on the Billboard Hot 100. This success paved the way for his self-titled debut studio album, which peaked at number three on the Billboard 200 and included the popular follow-up single 'Tell Me,' featuring Lil Wayne.
Continuing his upward trajectory, Bobby V released his second album, 'Special Occasion,' in two thousand seven, which was met with similar acclaim and featured the hit single 'Anonymous' with Timbaland. His third album, 'The Rebirth,' was released in two thousand nine under EMI, further solidifying his status in the R&B genre. Throughout his career, all of his albums have debuted atop the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart, showcasing his enduring appeal and talent in the music industry.
