Bode Miller, born on October 12, 1977, is a celebrated American former World Cup alpine ski racer and autobiographer. Renowned for his exceptional skills on the slopes, Miller is the most successful male American alpine ski racer in history, boasting an impressive record of 33 World Cup race victories. His remarkable achievements include being a two-time overall World Cup champion in 2005 and 2008, and he is one of only five men to have won World Cup events in all five disciplines, a testament to his versatility and prowess.
Throughout his illustrious career, Miller earned six medals at the Winter Olympics, the highest number for any U.S. skier. His Olympic accolades include two silver medals in giant slalom and combined at the Salt Lake City 2002 Games, a gold in super combined, a silver in super-G, and a bronze in downhill at the Vancouver 2010 Olympics, as well as a bronze in super-G at the Sochi 2014 Games. This remarkable feat places him among a select group of skiers who have medaled in four different disciplines.
In addition to his Olympic success, Miller secured six discipline World Cup titles and four World Championship titles across various disciplines, including giant slalom, combined, super-G, and downhill. He officially retired from ski racing in October 2017, transitioning his focus to horse racing and various business ventures.
Post-retirement, Miller has made significant strides in the business world, serving as a founder, strategic advisor, and investor. He was an initial investor in the lifestyle and nutrition brand Onnit in 2010 and co-founded SKEO, a wearable ski tracking app company, in 2020. In January 2021, he joined the Board of Directors of Opex Technologies, and in December 2021, he became an investor and Chief Innovation Officer at Alpine-X, a company dedicated to developing year-round indoor snowsports resorts.
