His crowning achievement came in nineteen sixty when he won an Olympic gold medal, solidifying his status as one of the top athletes of his time. He continued to excel, capturing a European title in nineteen sixty-seven and representing his country in the Olympics of nineteen sixty-four and nineteen sixty-eight, although he faced elimination in the second round on both occasions.

After retiring from competitive boxing, Němeček transitioned into coaching, sharing his expertise and passion for the sport with aspiring boxers. Additionally, he worked as a bus driver, showcasing his versatility beyond the ring. Unfortunately, his health began to decline after suffering a stroke in two thousand, leading to a gradual deterioration that ultimately resulted in his passing ten years later.
