Bombayla Devi Laishram

Bombayla Devi Laishram, born on February twenty-second, nineteen eighty-five, in Imphal East, Manipur, is a distinguished former Indian archer. She began her journey in archery at the tender age of eleven, guided by her father, and soon joined the Sports Authority of India. Laishram's dedication and talent propelled her into the national arena in nineteen ninety-seven, and she made her international debut in two thousand seven.

Over a remarkable career spanning more than a decade, Laishram became a vital member of India's national recurve team. She achieved significant milestones, including a silver medal at the World Archery Championships and an impressive tally of four gold, five silver, and four bronze medals at various editions of the Archery World Cup. Her peak came in March two thousand nine when she reached the fourteenth position in the world rankings.

Laishram's prowess extended to the Olympic stage, where she represented India three times, reaching the pre-quarterfinals on two occasions. Her achievements also include a gold medal at the Commonwealth Games and a bronze at the Asian Games, showcasing her versatility and skill in multi-sporting events.

In recognition of her contributions to Indian sports, Laishram was honored with the Arjuna Award in two thousand twelve and the Padma Shri in two thousand nineteen by the Government of India. Her journey is a testament to her hard work, resilience, and passion for archery.
