Bonifatius

Bonifatius, born in the year three hundred fifty, was a distinguished military officer who rose to prominence as a Roman general and governor of the diocese of Africa. His military career was marked by significant campaigns against the Visigoths in Gaul and the Vandals in North Africa, showcasing his strategic prowess and leadership in turbulent times.

An ally of Galla Placidia, the mother and advisor of Emperor Valentinian III, Bonifatius played a crucial role in the Roman civil wars. He fought valiantly on her behalf against the generals Felix from four hundred twenty-seven to four hundred twenty-nine and Aetius in four hundred thirty-two. His dedication to Galla Placidia's cause was evident in his relentless pursuit of stability for the Western Roman Empire.

Bonifatius achieved a notable victory against Aetius at the Battle of Rimini, solidifying his reputation as a formidable military leader. However, this triumph came at a great cost; he sustained a fatal wound during the conflict. Following his death, his legacy continued through his son-in-law, Sebastianus, who succeeded him as patricius of the Western Roman Empire.
