Boris Lagutin

Boris Lagutin, born on June twenty-fourth, nineteen thirty-eight, in Moscow, emerged as a formidable force in the world of boxing. As a Soviet light middleweight boxer, he carved out an impressive career, amassing a record of two hundred forty-one victories against just eleven defeats. His dedication and skill in the ring earned him recognition on the international stage.

Throughout his illustrious career, Lagutin showcased his talent at three Olympic Games, clinching two gold medals in nineteen sixty-four and nineteen sixty-eight. His prowess was further highlighted by his triumphs at the European Championships in nineteen sixty-one and nineteen sixty-three, as well as his victories at the USSR Championships from nineteen fifty-nine and again from nineteen sixty-one to nineteen sixty-four and in nineteen sixty-eight.

Lagutin's journey was not without its challenges. After the setbacks that followed the nineteen sixty-four Olympics, he faced a period of exclusion from the USSR team roster. However, with the guidance of his trainer, Vladimir Trenin, Lagutin was able to analyze the reasons behind his losses. This introspection and hard work led him to reclaim his titles as both USSR and Olympic Champion in nineteen sixty-eight.

His training journey began at VSS Trud until nineteen sixty-seven, after which he continued to hone his skills at VSS Spartak. Lagutin's story is one of resilience, determination, and an unwavering passion for the sport of boxing.
