Borut Božič

Borut Božič, born on August eighth, nineteen eighty, is a distinguished Slovenian former professional road racing cyclist. His professional career spanned from two thousand four to two thousand eighteen, during which he showcased his talents with several teams, including Perutnina Ptuj, Team LPR, Cycle Collstrop, Vacansoleil–DCM, Astana, Cofidis, and Bahrain–Merida.

Renowned for his sprinting prowess, Božič's style has often been likened to that of the celebrated cyclist Óscar Freire. His career is marked by significant achievements, including a triumphant victory at the two thousand seven Tour de Wallonie, where he demonstrated his competitive edge. In two thousand nine, he not only claimed victory in the first stage of the Tour de Pologne but also spent two days in the leader's jersey, further solidifying his reputation.

In addition to his Tour de Pologne success, Božič made headlines by winning the sixth stage of the two thousand nine Vuelta a España and stage five of the two thousand eleven Tour de Suisse. His contributions to the sport extended beyond racing, as he took on the role of directeur sportif for the Bahrain–Merida team until October two thousand nineteen.

However, his career faced a significant setback when he was issued a two-year ban in October two thousand nineteen due to his connections with a doping ring uncovered by Operation Aderlass. This incident marked a controversial chapter in his otherwise illustrious career.
