Brandon Carlo, born on November twenty-six, nineteen ninety-six, is an accomplished American professional ice hockey player known for his role as a defenseman with the Toronto Maple Leafs in the National Hockey League (NHL). Originally hailing from Colorado Springs, Colorado, Carlo's journey into the world of ice hockey began in his childhood, where he opted for the rink over the football field, playing both ice and street hockey with his neighbor.
Carlo's early career saw him excel with the Colorado Thunderbirds, where he spent five formative years in minor ice hockey. His talent caught the attention of scouts, leading him to join the Tri-City Americans of the Western Hockey League (WHL) towards the end of the 2012–13 season. His leadership skills shone through as he served as an assistant captain for the Americans during the following two seasons, earning praise from coach Jim Hiller.
In the 2015 NHL entry draft, Carlo was selected by the Boston Bruins as the thirty-seventh overall pick in the second round. He made his professional debut with the Providence Bruins in the American Hockey League before securing a spot on the Bruins' opening night roster for the 2016–17 season. Partnered initially with veteran captain Zdeno Chára, Carlo quickly established himself as a key player, later teaming up with Torey Krug and Matt Grzelcyk as the roster evolved.
Despite facing challenges, including injuries that sidelined him during crucial postseason moments, Carlo made his playoff debut in the 2019 Stanley Cup playoffs, contributing to the Bruins' run to the championship against the St. Louis Blues. After a successful tenure with the Bruins, Carlo was traded to the Maple Leafs in twenty twenty-five, marking a new chapter in his professional career.
