Brenda Clark

Brenda Clark, a talented Canadian illustrator and writer, was born on February tenth, nineteen fifty-five, in Toronto. She pursued her passion for illustration at Sheridan College, honing her skills that would later bring beloved characters to life.

Perhaps best known for her enchanting work on the Franklin the Turtle series, Clark has captivated the hearts of children and parents alike. The series has not only garnered numerous awards from the Canadian Children's Book Centre but also inspired an animated television series that aired across Canada and the United States.

In two thousand twelve, Canada Post celebrated the legacy of Franklin the Turtle by issuing a commemorative stamp, further solidifying the character's place in Canadian culture. The success of the series continued with the launch of a second television series, Franklin and Friends, which reached audiences in over fifteen countries.

In recognition of her contributions to children's literature and illustration, Brenda Clark was honored with a prestigious appointment to the Order of Canada in two thousand fourteen. Today, she resides in Port Hope, where she continues to inspire young readers through her creative works.
