Brendan Leipsic

Brendan Leipsic, born on May 19, 1994, is a Canadian-Russian professional ice hockey forward currently navigating the waters of free agency. His journey in the National Hockey League began when he was selected by the Nashville Predators in the third round of the 2012 NHL Entry Draft, being the eighty-ninth overall pick.

Throughout his career, Leipsic has played for several teams, including the Toronto Maple Leafs, Vegas Golden Knights, Vancouver Canucks, and Los Angeles Kings. His most notable contract came on July 1, 2019, when he signed with the Washington Capitals for a one-year deal worth seven hundred thousand dollars. However, his time with the Capitals was marred by controversy during the COVID-19 pandemic, leading to his contract termination on May 8, 2020, after a private conversation was leaked.

After parting ways with the Capitals, Leipsic took his talents to Russia, where he joined the Kontinental Hockey League. His commitment to his new home culminated in a significant milestone when he was granted Russian citizenship on July 12, 2023, after spending three years in the country.
