Hailing from Adelaide, he began his cycling journey with the Adelaide Cycling Club and quickly rose to prominence, showcasing his exceptional talent on the international stage.

Throughout his illustrious career, Aitken earned three Olympic medals, including a prestigious gold in the Madison event at the two thousand Olympics.
