Brett Crozier, born on February twenty-fourth, nineteen seventy, is a distinguished retired captain in the United States Navy. A graduate of the United States Naval Academy, he embarked on a remarkable career as a naval aviator, initially flying helicopters before transitioning to fighter aircraft. His dedication to service led him to complete naval nuclear training, after which he held various officer positions aboard several aircraft carriers.
In the spring of twenty twenty, Crozier was serving as the commanding officer of the USS Theodore Roosevelt when an outbreak of COVID-19 occurred among the crew. Faced with a challenging situation, he took the unprecedented step of sending a letter to Navy leaders advocating for the majority of the crew to be taken ashore for their safety. This letter was later leaked to the press, leading to significant media attention.
As a result of his actions, Crozier was relieved of command by then-acting Secretary of the Navy Thomas Modly. Shortly thereafter, he himself contracted the virus. Following this tumultuous period, he was reassigned to a shore position, ultimately retiring from the Navy in March twenty twenty-two.
