Brett Lancaster

Brett Lancaster, born on November fifteenth, nineteen seventy-nine, is a distinguished Australian former professional racing cyclist. Hailing from Shepparton, Victoria, he embarked on his cycling journey at the young age of fourteen in nineteen ninety-three. Over the course of his career, which spanned from two thousand three to two thousand sixteen, Lancaster showcased his exceptional talent and dedication to the sport.

His professional tenure began with Ceramiche Panaria–Fiordo, where he spent four years honing his skills before joining Team Milram in July two thousand six. Lancaster's career saw him riding for notable teams such as Cervélo TestTeam in two thousand nine and two thousand ten, and Garmin–Cervélo in two thousand eleven. Among his remarkable achievements, he is celebrated for winning the prologue of the Giro d'Italia, making history by wearing the coveted pink jersey as the race's general classification leader.

One of his crowning moments came at the two thousand four Summer Olympics in Athens, where he contributed to a gold medal victory in the team pursuit alongside Graeme Brown, Bradley McGee, and Luke Roberts, setting a world record time of three minutes fifty-eight seconds and two hundred thirty-three milliseconds. In recognition of his contributions to cycling, Lancaster was awarded the Order of Australia Medal in the two thousand five Australia Day Honours List and was a scholarship holder at the Australian Institute of Sport.

After retiring from competitive cycling following the two thousand fifteen season, Lancaster transitioned to a new role as a directeur sportif for Team Sky in two thousand sixteen, continuing to influence the sport from behind the scenes.
