Brian May

Brian May, born on July nineteenth, nineteen forty-seven, is a multifaceted English musician and astrophysicist, best known as the lead guitarist and backing vocalist of the iconic rock band Queen. Co-founding the band with Freddie Mercury and Roger Taylor in nineteen seventy, May's innovative guitar work and songwriting were pivotal in propelling Queen to global stardom, particularly with the legendary album A Night at the Opera and its groundbreaking single, 'Bohemian Rhapsody.'

Before Queen, May showcased his musical talents in the progressive rock band Smile alongside Taylor. The addition of Mercury in nineteen seventy marked the beginning of a remarkable journey that would see Queen become one of the most successful acts in music history. Their electrifying performances, including the unforgettable Live Aid concert in nineteen eighty-five, solidified their status as rock legends. He earned a PhD in astrophysics from Imperial College London in two thousand seven and served as Chancellor of Liverpool John Moores University from two thousand eight to two thousand thirteen. His contributions to science include collaboration with NASA's New Horizons mission and co-founding Asteroid Day, with an asteroid named in his honor. In two thousand five, he was appointed a Commander of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire for his services to music and charity, and in two thousand twenty-three, he was knighted by King Charles III.
