Brian McClair, born on December eighth, nineteen sixty-three, is a distinguished Scottish football coach and former professional player. His career as a forward spanned from nineteen eighty to nineteen ninety-eight, during which he became renowned for his nearly eleven-year tenure at Manchester United. There, he achieved remarkable success, securing fourteen trophies, including four Premier League titles, two FA Cups, and the prestigious European Cup Winners' Cup.
Before his illustrious time at Manchester United, McClair made significant contributions to Scottish football, notably with Celtic and Motherwell. At Celtic, he celebrated victories in both the Scottish League and the Scottish Cup. His time at Motherwell was particularly unique, as he balanced his football career with academic pursuits, studying mathematics at the University of Glasgow.
Affectionately nicknamed 'Choccy' due to the rhyme of his surname with the sweet treat 'chocolate éclair', McClair also represented Scotland on the international stage. Between nineteen eighty-six and nineteen ninety-three, he earned thirty caps for his national team and was part of the squad for UEFA Euro nineteen ninety-two.
Following his retirement from playing, McClair transitioned into coaching, initially taking a role at Blackburn Rovers. He later returned to Manchester United, where he dedicated several years to nurturing young talent as the Youth Academy Director.
