Brian David Scalabrine, born on March 18, 1978, is an American former professional basketball player who has transitioned into a prominent role as a television analyst for the Boston Celtics. Known affectionately as the 'White Mamba', Scalabrine has also made a name for himself as a commentator for the Big3 basketball league and co-hosts 'The Starting Lineup' on SiriusXM NBA Radio.
Raised in Enumclaw, Washington, Scalabrine's basketball journey began at Highline College before he transferred to the University of Southern California. There, he excelled as a member of the USC Trojans men's basketball team, leading in scoring, field goals, and rebounds while playing primarily at the center position.
In the 2001 NBA draft, Scalabrine was selected in the second round by the New Jersey Nets. During his four seasons with the team, he contributed to their consecutive NBA Finals appearances in his first two years. In 2005, he signed with the Boston Celtics, where he achieved the pinnacle of success by winning an NBA championship in 2008, and was part of the team that reached the NBA Finals again in 2010.
After his time with the Celtics, Scalabrine joined the Chicago Bulls, playing with them until 2012. Following his playing career, he was appointed to the coaching staff of the Golden State Warriors in 2013 by Mark Jackson. The following year, he began his role as an analyst for Celtics games on local broadcasts, further solidifying his connection to the sport.
